Matthew 22:17-21 Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not? But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites? Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny. And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's.
When Jesus was asked about the giving of tributes to Caesar, He did not focus on the law, He focus on the image.
This means that whatever image you are made of, should determine your tribute or true allegiance. It should determine who you give honor to.
So He told them, give to Caesar what is Caesar's and to God what is God's.
We all know that we are created in the image and likeness of God.
Genesis 1:26-27 - So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. (KJV)
Therefore, we ought to give ourselves out to God because we bear His image. Our allegiance should be to Him.
We are very keen in paying taxes to the government of this world to avoid their punishments and not keen to offering ourselves to God who is able to kill both flesh and spirit.
Paul says, offer your bodies as living sacrifices, Holy and acceptable before God.
No man pays half tax because they know the consequences.
Brethren let's be keen in offering ourselves to God wholly and Holy for we bear His image.
When they ask you why you spend so much time in prayer and word and always talk Jesus, tell them it is His image I carry and so I give Him all the honour.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, you showed us the way and therefore we ought to follow, grant us the understanding and grace to pay our allegiance to you and to you alone, to acknowledge and honour you with our lives.
